AUDITIONS!
Somerset Opera's next in-house production will be HMS Pinafore by Gilbert & Sullivan touring March 2025 (7 performances 20- 22 and 26-29 March), directed by Sarah Helsby-Hughes and music by Sam Baker.
Dress rehearsals will be March 19 and there may be additional rehearsals on the evenings of 17, 18 March if needed. Successful auditionees will be required to join Somerset Opera ( annual membership fee £30) and also pay a performance fee of £25. Production rehearsals will be Thurs eve- Sundays over three weekends (28 Feb- Mar 2, 6-9 Mar and 13-16 March and schedules to be arranged around the cast but with chorus on Thursday evenings) and music rehearsals from January 9- March 13 on Thursday evenings in Taunton.
Auditions will be held on Saturday 19 October in the afternoon at Temple Methodist Church, Taunton. Those wishing to audition should contact the Producer, Lance Moir via e mail at [email protected] as soon as possible but in any event by October 12th, indicating times that would be suitable. If this date is not suitable, video submissions will be acceptable. Some roles may be cast to any gender of performer. Individuals interested in the roles of Boatswain and Carpenter should also express their interest.

Dick Deadeye: He thinks he’s won his Josephine (p66-67 No 12)
Buttercup: First verse of I’m called Little Buttercup (p 12-13 to ‘chops’ and Last 2 verses of ‘Oh Bitter is my Cup’ to the end (p138-140)
