About Somerset Opera

Somerset Opera is a friendly group of singers.  We usually produce one Gilbert and Sullivan light opera every spring and follow this up with a grand opera in the summer.  Occasionally there will also be a lighter show in the autumn.  Of course, this isn't set in stone and some years Somerset Opera may deviate form our usual programme.  Somerset Opera supports young performers in a range of ways. In addition to its Young Performers Programme, Somerset Opera is delighted to support the Somerset Song Prize (SSP)  The SSP is a biennial national singing competition for young people aged 18 to 26.
Somerset Opera holds rehearsals on Thursday evenings at St. James Church School, Cranmer Rd, Taunton TA1 1XU and welcome enquiries from all voice registers.  We do hold auditions and these are arranged with the musical director.
Somerset Opera's spring production is usually a tour, performing in village halls, churches and theatres around Somerset.
